Hrast, jasen i brijest u prosjeku su starosti oko 150 godina. Uslijed depresije tog podru\u010dja voda se dugo zadr\u017eava, \u010dine\u0107i \u0161umsko tlo mo\u010dvarnim. Lugom se gospodari tako da se o\u010duvaju stoljetne skupine stabala koja su obitavali\u0161ta orla \u0161tekavca. U rezervatu se redovito gnijezdi barem jedan par \u0161tekavaca, a osim njih u rezervatu nalazimo i druge grabljivice kao \u0161to su \u0161kanjac i jastreb.<br \/>\nPodru\u010dje je bogato i djetlovkama od kojih svakako treba istaknuti crvenoglavog djetli\u0107a i crnu \u017eunu, vrste koje su indikator starih i vrlo kvalitetnih \u0161umskih stani\u0161ta. Najubojitije oru\u017eje orla \u0161tekavca su o\u0161tre kand\u017ee na nogama kojima mo\u017ee ugrabiti plijen i odnijeti ga u gnijezdo ili na neko mirnije mjesto. Cijeli \u017eivot \u017eivi u paru, a povezanost izme\u0111u partnera u\u010dvr\u0161\u0107uje se svadbenim letovima.
